ATV Quad Tours and Rentals
Pavones and the surrounding areas are both nature and adventure rich. The many roads and trails lead to incredible views and natural landscapes where Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, Howler Monkeys, Blue Morpho Butterflies, to Sloths call home. Quad Tours with a guide will create a lifetime of memories while effortlessly exploring and experiencing the sights and sounds of the lush tropical jungle. The guide will share with you how to be respectful of nature, the residents, and this natural area. Quads can also be rented to create unique and custom adventures to explore alone or with a group. Quad Tours can accommodate children (one per adult), beginners, to advanced riders. Most tours are approximately three (3) hours. The guide will provide a safety, route, and quad handling overview before the tour. The tour includes a quad, helmet, and fuel. Wearing long pants or jeans with shoes is recommended. World Class Surfing
The Point wave in Pavones is what put this amazing natural paradise on the map. The long left breaking waves, recognized as one of the world’s longest, races across all its famous sections. Each with its own nuances suited for all levels of surfing from the beginner to advanced. Surf Teachers will exemplify being positive stewards of surfing heritage and sustainability of the local nature. Basics like etiquette, safety, to cheering while that first and every wave is surfed, are standard. The surf spots with softer breaking waves are ideal for beginners to surf. The Surf Teacher will guide you to the best location for maximum fun while sharing surfing and ocean skills.

Epic Fishing Adventures
Out beyond the surf, renowned sport fishing awaits. Hop on a panga for Roosterfish, Snapper, Snook, and Mackerel. Or, have an offshore charter pick you up from the beach to go for Pacific Sail, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin and Dorado. Family and friends can enjoy surf lessons, yoga, hiking, birding, horseback riding, nature tours, or relaxing by the pool.

Kayaking
Due to its diverse natural landscape and significant number of rivers, Costa Rica is an excellent destination for travelers looking to enjoy kayaking during their vacation. This relaxing activity is enhanced even more by the natural beauty and abundance of native wildlife that can be found in and around these bodies of water. Tour operators offer tourists a chance to enjoy kayaking adventures that can last up to a few days. While a number of outdoor activities cater specifically to adventure travelers, kayaking is one sport that can be thoroughly enjoyed by travelers of all ages and interests.
Golfo Dulce Boat Tour
The Gulfo Dulce and surrounding areas of the Southern Zone and Osa Penninsula are some of the most remote regions of the world. Exploring this region by boat provides a unique perspective of the land and sea habitats. The Gulfo Dulce hosts many marine species including Humpback Whales, Dolphins, Whale Sharks, and sea turtles. Many sea birds including the Brown Pelican and Magnificent Frigate can be seen flying in formations or high overhead. The scenery from the boat is picturesque in 360º. The lush green mountains of various elevations, incredible cloud formations adding to spectacular sunsets, and the ever present marine ecosystem will provide you a lifetime of memories. Horseback Riding
The natural beauty found in Pavones is what makes Costa Rica special. The surrounding lush tropical rainforest is home to most of the Earth’s terrestrial biodiversity. Some of the iconic animals associated with this place are Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Blue Morpho Butterflies, two species of Sloth, four different species of monkeys including Howlers, plus many more. The horseback rides explore the area beaches and less traveled jungle mountain trails. Some of the most breathtaking views will be experienced during this activity. The horses and their gentle nature provide a calm atmosphere making spotting animals much easier.
Horseback Riding can accommodate beginners to advanced riders. Most tours range from 3-5 hours and the duration can be set before the adventure. Guide-walked horse rides are available for children and are an hour. The guide will provide you safety and a horse handling overview

Osa Wildlife Sanctuary
Osa Wildlife Sanctuary (Fundacion Santuario Silvestre de Osa), Tour The sanctuary roots are based on the love of the area and desire to share it with others as an ecolodge. Soon after a local brought an injured Spider Monkey in for help the focus immediately shifted to rescuing and helping the local wildlife. There are over 70 animals at the sanctuary today being rehabilitated or living as permanent residents based on the extent of their injuries. The four species of monkies include Howlers, two species of Sloth, Toucans, Tayras, Ocelots, and others that can be seen and handled up close. The sanctuary can only be accessed by a short boat ride through the Gulfo Dulce, one of the world’s three tropical fjords.
The Piedras Blancas Nature Preserve surrounds the entire grounds and provides a tranquil and isolated setting. Tours are guided and will inspire your love for nature and caring for injured animals. Corcovado National Park
It is widely considered the crown jewel in the extensive system of national parks and biological reserves spread across the country. The ecological variety is quite stunning. National Geographic has called it “the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity”. Not only is the park very popular with tropical ecologists, a visitor can expect to see an abundance of wildlife.

Clay & Pottery Classes
Pavones is a handcrafter’s paradise. The natural colors found in the local stones and sand provide creative delight and inspiration for each clay and pottery project providing endless possibilities. The colorful Toucans in the canopy transform into decorated clay pots or a slow-moving Sloth spotted on a previous jungle walk becomes pottery that will live on as a conversation piece for years. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to have fun, play, and get their hands dirty. Each class can be arranged to fit the skill-level of the participants. All materials and tools are provided. The finished clay pottery piece that you create in class can be taken home after they are carefully and securely packaged for the journey back home. Organic Chocolate Making Classes
Pavones is a nature and surfing lovers paradise but the local specialties are the hidden gems experienced by the few in the know, such as the Organic Chocolate Making Classes. This experience will leave you wanting more. Our very own local chocolatier has been handcrafting and refining his delightful sweet delicacies to include over 60 different seasonal fruits and nuts, some only available in this region of the world. The class includes step by step instructions and guidance by the chocolatier with each participant getting their hands covered in rich delicious locally procured cacao beans, then hand grinding them, mixing in the seasonal fruit, cooking, then rolling mouth-watering, and senses arousing chocolaty goodness. Everyone is welcome and encouraged and no cooking experience is required. Class includes all ingredients, tools, and materials. The chocolate made by you is included and can be brought back to Pavones Point to enjoy while listening to nature on the patio. Punta Banco Turtle Conservation Project (Seasonal)
Through the efforts of volunteers, the Punta Banco Turtle Conservation Project provides an opportunity to be a part of making our world a better place. This grassroots effort relies on donations from local, regional, and national organizations for funding. The project provides an up-close and immersive learning environment. Each year hundreds of sea turtles from the Green, Olive Ridley, Hawksbill, to the endangered Pacific Leatherback come to lay their eggs on the dark, calm, and long beach of Punta Banco. As a volunteer, depending on the season, there will be different opportunities for you to help such as locating and marking turtle nests, relocating eggs to pens that are secure from predators, then measured and released into the Pacific Ocean after hatching. This once in a lifetime experience will help build a stronger connection with nature. Whale, Dolphin, & Marine Life Watching Tours (Seasonal)
The Gulfo Dulce is home, sanctuary, and nursery to many marine species including Humpback Whales, Spinner, Spotted, and Bottlenose Dolphins, Whale Sharks, and several species of sea turtles such as the endangered Pacific Leatherback. The natural abundance of nutrient-rich currents, food sources, calm and warm water, make this unique tropical fjord (one of only three in the world) an ideal habitat for observing nature. Tours are available seasonally when the Humpback Whales are most abundant from April through September to birth and raise their calves. The male Humpback songs can be heard underwater and are something that you should experience. Because many parts of the area are nature preserves it does not receive a large amount of boat traffic therefore the marine nature is relaxed and allows for unforgettable special encounters on each tour.
